Who can get married at St Giles’

To be married at St Giles’, one of you must have what’s known as a qualifying connection with the church. That could mean you live in the parish now, have lived here in the past, were baptised or confirmed here, or have parents or grandparents with a link to the church. If you’re not sure whether you qualify, don’t worry, we can talk you through the options and help you explore ways to make St Giles’ part of your story.

Legal and practical steps

 

Most couples marry by publication of banns, a traditional legal requirement where your intention to marry is announced during a Sunday service on three separate weeks in the three months before your wedding.

If either of you is not a UK citizen, or if there are other special circumstances, you may need a licence instead. We’ll guide you through whichever process is right for you.
